The Afroliteracies Foundation, The Gadangme Online and Write Ghana Literary Initiatives announce their 1st annual *Blonya Lalai- Blonya La* Christmas Carols Prize.

The Blonya Lalai Blonya La Prize is a 1000.00 (One thousand) Ghana Cedis prize for Christmas carols open to original compositions in Gã and in Dangme.

Deadline for entries and submissions: December 15, 2020

Carols must be:

-Original/ Unpublished (never publicly performed)

-Up to 5-mins long

-Sung a cappella as an individual or group

-or accompanied by  musical instruments or a soundtrack

Text & Language

Gã or Dangme bilingual renditions with English or French are acceptable but must include at least 70% Gã or Dangme lyrics.

-Suitable for Christmas/Homowo/New year/ Holiday celebrations.

-Email entries to afroliteracies@gmail.com. Entries received after the deadline will not be considered.

*** Compositions (lyrics and music) must be submitted in PDF or doc.x format accompanied by video or audio file and emailed to afroliteracies@gmail.com.

The 2 selected carols will be broadcast on Obonu FM & TV, Afroliteracies Mawie Gã's YouTube channel, Write Ghana Literary Initiatives, The GaDangme Online and various social media platforms with over 100,000 active followers. Organizers waive copyrights to the song but reserve the rights to use the song for promotional purposes.
